Summer Craft Camp

Every summer, Laurel Street Arts offers a summer craft camp for kids entering grades 2 through 7. We always have at least one pottery painting project as well as one mosaic project and one glass fusing project. Additionally, we will work on many different types of crafts, varied from week to week and geared specifically towards the group of kids in each session. The crafts vary from soap making to glass painting to working with polymer clay to weaving. In the past we have made totem/spirit poles, styrofoam creatures, polymer clay clocks and toys, decoupage plates and boxes, masks, painted pot holders and much more. Our older kids even get to try their hand making silver clay jewelry!

Crafts are chosen depending on the kids participating. We try to offer crafts for both girls and boys, using all types of materials. Kids will work on two to four projects per day.

NOTE: Even if Summer Camp doesn't work for you, the studio is still open for drop-in artists!

Session A
$255/week
Session A* (4 days)
$205/week
Grades 2 through 7; 9:30 am - 1:00 pm
Artists should bring lunch.
For kids entering grades 2-7, these sessions are great for siblings to attend together. We’ll be painting pottery, glass fusing, making mosaics and more, with lots of help for the younger kids and a little help for the older ones. Sessions are 3.5 hours long with a break for lunch and cost $255, including tax. (Note: Session A* is only 4 days and $205.)

Session B
Grades 2-5, $235/week, 9:30—12:30
We will not have a lunch break. Artists may bring a snack if desired.
For kids entering grades 2-5, these sessions are just 3 hours, $235 (including tax) and geared toward helping the younger kids complete successful projects.

Session C
Grades 6-7, $285/week, 1:30 - 4:30
Artists may bring a snack if desired.
Geared specially for the older kids (grades 6-7), we’ll have some projects that can’t be done with younger kids, including making pure silver jewelry! These 3-hour sessions start after lunch, leaving us plenty of time to focus on each project. Cost is $285 (including tax).

Note: While the curriculum may be repeated from week to week, the individual projects may change somewhat so repeat artists can have a varied experience. Artists may not, however, attend more than 2 weeks per summer.

All Sessions are "Dress for Mess." We will be getting messy! Artists should wear clothes that can be stained and get wet (old shorts, t-shirts and sneakers are the best.)

We will start accepting registrations February 15, 2012. Register before May 1, 2012 for a $5 discount per child per week. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. We will have a waiting list for full sessions and will fill the classes from the earliest name on the list. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to hold a space with the balance due at the first class. Sessions that do not meet minimum enrollment may be cancelled with a complete refund of deposit. No refund of tuition (or portion thereof) will be granted for absences. We do not pro-rate sessions or provide make-up classes.

Prices include cost of all project materials. Artists attending Session A should bring their own lunch and drink. Laurel Street Arts reserves the right to change the curriculum.
