Introduction to Mosaics

Class Schedule

This is a great introduction to ceramic tile mosaic, whether you plan on making larger projects in the future, or just want to experiment with a new craft. You'll start by designing your piece and then paint ceramic tiles that will bring life to your mosaic with color and patterns. You'll learn to cut and shape tiles, adhere them to your base piece, and finally grout and take home a finished piece. Students will make a serving tray or a 12" x 12" wall hanging. No art or mosaic experience is necessary.

Intermediate/Advanced Mosaic Workshop

Class Schedule

This class is for those who have tried mosaic before or have an adventurous spirit and are ready to jump in and try something new.

Class 1: Plan Your Mosaic Piece: Consult with our mosaic artist and plan the piece you'll work on in the next 4 weeks. Bring an object you'd like to mosaic from home, or have our instructor guide you in deciding on exactly what piece(s) you'll need to purchase for your project.

Class 2: Execute the Mosaic: Layout and adhere your materials to your piece. Guidance and tips on nipping tile, arranging patterns, and adhering your tile so it will last.

Studio Time: Use the three weeks between class meetings to complete your mosaic project, either at home or in the studio. You may use the studio during any of our regular ours.

Class 3: Grouting and Finishing: Choose just the right color grout to make your piece come alive. Instruction on proper technique and making your piece ready to use.

Fee includes adhesive, and grout. Base pieces priced separately, or bring your own. Some tile is included in the class fee.

Mosaic Tabletop

Class Schedule

Design and create your very own wrought iron mosaic table for interior use. This class is perfect for the total novice and for anyone who's done some basic mosaics and wants to try something a little more challenging. You'll learn to cut and shape ceramic tile, transfer your design to the tabletop, create your mosaic, and grout your finished piece. Experience is not required however creativity is thoroughly encouraged. Come with a prepared design or design the project in class. Each student will take home a completed 15" diameter table.
